Why: To raise money to support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Project in Greene County

The Dolly Parton Imagination Project was founded by country music legend Dolly Parton, who wanted to give children access to books in her Tennessee hometown. Over the years, the effort has spread nationwide, including obviously Greene County. Currently there are about 4000 children enrolled in the program (at no cost to the parent/legal guardian who registers the child). Registered children receive a book a month, mailed directly to them, until they reach their fifth birthday. The goal of the project is twofold: to foster a closer relationship between the child and the reader and to increase Kindergarten Reading Readiness skills.
