Burial and Commemoration in Yellow Springs

When someone dies in Yellow Springs what are some of the community options for burial and commemoration services? The End-of-Life Community Forum will meet on Monday, May 11, at 7:00 pm in the Rockford Chapel on the Antioch campus. There will be three presentations. The first will be by township trustee Chris Mucher on green burials in the Glen Forest Natural Burial Cemetery. They have been an approved provider of a natural burial ground since Jan. 1, 2014. The second will be a presentation by villagers Al Schlueter and David Westneat about the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Yellow Springs’s end of life committee and what it does for its members. The third presentation will be by villager Rubin Battino on how typical celebration of life memorial services are conducted in Yellow Springs. (Rubin has prepared a hand-out check list for such services.) This informative meeting is open to the public.

NOTE: The June End-of-Life Community Forum will be held on Monday, June 15 (third Monday in June) as opposed to the regularly scheduled second Monday of the month. The speaker is Robb Miller, former director of Compassion and Choices in the State of Washington. The topic for the meeting will be Catholic health facilities and advanced directives. More info will be posted as we get closer to the date.

End-of-Life Community Forums are free and open to the public. All ages are welcome. This information is provided to the community as a public service, to educate the public on all matters of end-of-life issues.
