$20 – $25Ralph Stanley with Nathan Stanley and The Clinch Mountain Boys
Will Be At The Fairborn Eagles Lodge
Sunday, July 27 1 p.m.
Ralph Stanley in Fairborn at the FOE Lodge this Sunday!
Show is at 1:00 pm. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. If you like Bluegrass,
this old timer’s the real deal. (For those not in the know, this guy’s a legend and was part of the Grammy winning
“O Brother, Where Art Thou” soundtrack.)
While he preferred the term “mountain music” to “bluegrass,” Ralph Stanley ranks second only to Bill Monroe
in importance in the genre. A pioneering clawhammer banjoist and riveting singer, Stanley shot to prominence
with his brother Carter and the Clinch Mountain Boys in the ’40s and ’50s.
Stanley’s work was featured in the 2000 film O Brother, Where Art Thou?, in which he sings the Appalachian dirge
“O Death.” The soundtrack’s producer was T-Bone Burnett. With that song, Stanley won a 2002 Grammy Award in the
category of Best Male Country Vocal Performance. “That put the icing on the cake for me,” he says.
“It put me in a different category.”
