Hi there—I’m Yellow Springs, Ohio.
You might know me for my colorful shops, laid-back charm, and artsy vibe, but there’s so much more to me than just a lively downtown. Sure, my storefronts are bright and my festivals bring in the crowds, but my real magic? It’s in the nature that flows through me like a deep breath of fresh air.
Let me show you. Tucked just a short walk from my streets is Glen Helen Nature Preserve with 1,000 acres of trails, creeks, and towering trees. It’s peaceful, wild, and full of surprises. That yellow-tinged spring you’ll find there? Yeah, that’s what I’m named after. Nearby, my good friend John Bryan State Park joins the adventure with limestone cliffs and the Little Miami River carving out a gorge that looks like something out of a storybook.
If you like to explore on two wheels, I’ve got you covered with the Little Miami Scenic Trail. It rolls right through me, smooth and easy, passing farmland, shady forests, and even my old train station, which has seen a lot in its day. Whether you’re speeding by or cruising slow, it’s hard not to fall in love with the ride.
A little farther out, Clifton Gorge offers rocky trails and roaring water. It’s wild in the best way, and in every season, it brings something different. Scattered around town, I keep things grounded with green spaces like Gaunt Park, Ellis Park, and the Agraria Center, where you can stretch out, learn, breathe, and reconnect.
Did you know that people actually call me a selfie village, and I get it. I’ve got murals, funky bike racks, and trails lined with flowers. But beyond the snapshots, I’m about connection. To the earth. To each other. To something a little slower and a lot more real.
So, if you haven’t wandered through me yet, what are you waiting for? I promise, it’s even better when you see it through your own eyes.
